SPOTTED – pocket strategic research module

One of VRD’s strengths is the research process focused on people. At each project, a research strategy is custom made according to the project’s challenge and the particularities of the context, and its execution and analysis are managed internally as part of the innovation process. Clients give value to the intelligence behind our research process, as it pursuits vision broadening and deep understanding of human realities and contexts. Part of this intelligence lays on the “understanding lenses” definition and on the connections we make across data and information sources. At VRD the exploratory phase is the main resource for constructing new visions, strategies and innovative ideas for products and services.

A demand for our research approach and analysis detached from solution materialization  brought us to think about a new offer and way of working. This means a more agile and lower cost impact research, concretized in what we called “SPOTTED” – a compact module of strategic research, that uses as main tool a digital platform exclusively developed by VRD.

03 spotted etapasBeyond a digital tool, the SPOTTED module comprises the understanding and challenge decoding, the research structuring and the delivery of a report with strategic directions.

Collecting information through a digital platform also means to do research at human pace (rhythm), with no interferences. Here “digital” means to gain time, to facilitate the quantification of qualitative aspects, and above all, it means to make research accessible and viable to companies of all kinds in the vast and diverse territory that is Brazil. The Web Based application works on any internet browser, allowing unlimited broadness of territories and social context, and conveys punctual research, as well as consumer diaries, and even idea evaluation clinics with clients. Images can be used as questions, demanded as answers, and people can intervene on them.

04 spotted image markingAs people participate in a remote mode, all data sent through the application is organized, classified, and related according to VRD’s established parameters. This generates an intelligent database that supports VRD’s team during the analysis and the “spotting opportunities” process. This process, called “translation process”, is of high strategic value, since a good research doesn’t end just in the generated data, but in its purpose inside an action plan.

06 spotted udineseThe system, today in complete operation, was already used with efficiency and great results. The most recent, between the 10th and 13th of September of 2014, when SPOTTED was used at the FEICOM (Construction and Materials International Fair) as a mechanism to approach individually a selection of commercial representatives, selling agents, locksmiths and consultants and get their opinion over new product ideas, in order to validate and fine-tune UDINESE (brazilian company leader in hardware systems for windows and doors) oncoming product launch.

This is just a sample of how a smart research, in the right place and way, could be the best ally for taking strategic decisions and do assertive moves in business.
